Press Release
Hi All:
Today we held a hastily called press conference -- every media outlet in town was here at our humble HQ -- to break the story the Statesman was sitting on since last Friday. Matt Curtis, executive assistant to Mayor Will Wynn, tried to bribe one of our petitioners, Jimmy Gardner, with $200 in cash, to get him to turn over his petitions. This was all done right out in front of BookPeople. A 30-45 minutes conversation ensued. Lots of people watched this interaction, including a Statesman reporter, and Curtis is unmistakable -- dark hair, 6' 4" and maybe 350 lbs. or more!
The Mayor's office released a statement today to FOX claiming that we are "just publicity seekers".
The Mayor's office is aware that we are tight on signatures and running out of time. Any interference from them could keep us off the ballot.
The truth will come out -- but will it before we finish our task of gathering the signatures we need to place a recall election on the ballot?
Only you -- and thousands of Central Texans -- can answer this question. Does this make you mad as hell? Don't get angry, get even.
You need to use this to teach people that the only way the cesspool downtown is going to get cleaned up is if the ordinary folks clean it up. Share this story with all your friends, tell them they can do something by getting others to sign the petition and bring them to the CAMPO Meeting this coming Monday night. The Showdown is coming -- and we ALL need to be there.
Let me hear from you. And, please, come in and lend a hand. We're swamped with work.
Linda Curtis (no relation, please!)
