New Hampshire becomes New Hateshire

Yesterday members of the Free State Project sent New Hampshire State Rep. Cynthia Chase a "thank you" card and flowers for the free media coverage generated by her anti-freedom comments because they expect it will boost their recruiting efforts.

Free State Project to Host New Hampshire Freedom Festival 2008 at Gunstock

The Free State Project, one of the largest pro-liberty organizations in the country, will be hosting their annual Porcupine Freedom Festival (PorcFest) in New Hampshire June 9-15. The purpose of the Free State Project is to recruit 20,000 pro-liberty activists to move to the Granite State. After relocating, they will work toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of government is the protection of life, liberty, and property. So far, over 8,300 have signed up and over 1,000 will have moved by the end of 2008.

Those who have already moved have been elected to state and local office; formed influential political activism organizations; created newspapers, radio, and television shows; started successful businesses; and overall have formed a vibrant community intent of preserving and promoting the Live Free or Die lifestyle of New Hampshire.

Love is the Answer:

And the best recent presentation of the healing power of love lies in Dr. Mary Ruwart's marvelous work, Healing Our World: In an Age of Aggression.  Normally, I don't create a column over a book and author, but this week I'm making an exception.  Dr. Mary is a key truthbearer.

Freedom: It's the Law, Part 2

Any fees sought by governments for operation are entirely voluntary.  Nothing in the Constitution gives any government the authority to criminalize an individual's decision not to pay a tax.  Perhaps civil penalties for nonpayment are appropriate, such as retraction of the right to vote, but the only valid legal consequence for nonpayment of a so-called good tax is social opprobrium (disapproval of one's peers).

On the Road Again, Part 1

In these days of the American national security state's (NSS's) multicolored alerts, the idea of road travel as a single man across state lines can take on an increasingly revolutionary hue  Plus, I have to ask myself, "Why am I taking a road trip to Texas from Michigan?"

Emerge at 06:00, shower and clean up, then walk through the snore-filled campground to the coffee shop.  At the order window, my "waitress" writes a ticket for a ham and cheese omelette, then gets me a Styrofoam cup of Joe.  I walk with it to a table across from this young man, big, about 6' 10", wearing a mountain-man hat and a t-shirt imprinted with the famous Ben Franklin quote: Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

What You Can Do - Free State Project

The Free State Project needs members, and lots of them.  As of August 6, 2004, they need about 14,000 more people and they need them in the next 18 months.  FSP is currently spending about $25 per new member in advertising costs (Forum thread with full calcs).

Porcupine Freedom Festival I, Part 1

As I put tire tracks between me and the (most regrettable) Atlanta 2004 LP National Convention on Memorial Day weekend, the definite plan was to check out the Free State Project (FSP) via the first annual Porcupine Freedom Festival, in Lancaster, New Hampshire.

Big Daddy - Do We Need One?

I am seriously looking for the answer to this question. It seems to me that Americans are no longer able to think their problems out on their own but want some mystical or real person to take the responsibility of setting cultural and moral codes for them.

I am very pro-choice on all subjects of social issues that face us and our children daily. What many people don't understand is that being pro-choice also gives us the option of joining into groups that agree with us. The most obvious choices are social habits (drinking, drugs, fatty foods and even abortion and pornography.)
