Congratulations To The University Of Houston-Victoria Jaguars, by US Rep. Ron Paul

Madam Speaker, I am pleased to congratulate The University of Houston--Victoria (UHV) Jaguars softball team on an amazing inaugural season. The Jaguars completed the season with a 32-18 record and finished fourth in Region VI of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, missing the national tournament by one slot.

The Jaguars faced a strong slate of contenders in the regular season, including 14 nationally recognized opponents, nine of which fell to the Jaguars. The team also defeated NCAA teams Houston Baptist University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Fox Hunting in the UK

Since February 18th 2005 fox-hunting has been illegal in the UK. You probably think you already know my opinions on the matter, old leftie that I am. Actually you’d be wrong. I am almost totally indifferent to the matter. Is fox-hunting cruel? Well, yes, no, maybe. I don’t know. But it seems a lot less cruel, to me, than some of the other ways we treat animals.

No excuse for me not keeping up on the world of auto racing; my interests along those lines are more hands-on, and at a much lower level of proficiency:  I take part occasionally in time-distance rallies and in performance driving weekends with my Audi A4.  As regular readers of from Reason to Freedom may know, I also indulge myself with long solo journeys cross-country mainly for the freedom of driving.

2004 Ryder Cup and Public Morality

Still, when you lose, only two reasons exist: either you played too poorly to win, or your opponent played well enough to beat you.  Naturally, the analysts have to come up with some deeper stuff to justify their paychecks, though a lot of their deeper stuff is enlightening.
