Villa Maria 2004 Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand
Submitted by bob.bacchus on Wed, 2006-11-08 19:01.
It has a clear straw yellow – yellow color with medium to light depth. The nose for this wine is tough to ascertain. There are no real floral notes and if anything its primary note is one of olives or asparagus – decidedly vegetable, which to me is a disagreeable taste. Its viscosity is good for a blanc. The asparagus/olive taste unfortunately follows through onto the palate for this wine. It’s not too astringent and its balance seems good. It might be good paired with a vegetable dish or strong cheese. But it is not much use as wine you might serve just for sipping. Grade: C- Price: $14 Wine Reviewed:
