The only thing you will ever learn about history is that nobody ever learns from history! In effect, we, as individuals, who live in our short time span on earth, think we live in an infallible society. Has it ever occurred that you might be living in either one of 3 phases of an empire?
Well fellow people on this board - all signs of an Empire in Free Fall Decay are here ...

Google the phrase, with quotes, "Going Galt" and you'll get "about 215,000" results or so.
Are libertarians witnessing the mainstreaming of John Galt?
This article touches on one of the reasons why the idea of Going Galt is becoming so popular. But it needs to begin with this caveat:

According to a recent cbsnews.com article headline, the network has suddenly discovered a startling concept: "Will Congress Read Bills Before Voting?"
Understand, CBS isn't actually advocating that our Congresscrats do any such thing. They are simply reporting that "Various grassroots organizations" are complaining that Congress isn't taking the time to properly consider the energy bill or health care reform.

In their day it was simple. Each state sent two of its own to the Senate to represent them. They also sent a number of Representatives to the House of that name based on the population within each state. The more people, the more representatives. Hence the enumeration. Simple. Today the census is a racket. It doesn't just count people, it manipulates the count to ensure that pockets of people who routinely vote for the polecats in power are higher while opposition voters are counted lower. Then, Congressional and local legislative districts are gerrymandered, which means drawing lines on maps to create areas guaranteed to vote for You while chopping up neighborhoods that usually vote for Them.

While Rick Perry is bringing national ridicule (again) on Texas with
his foolishness on secession, the bum still wants to grab Texans'
land for a project 99% of us oppose -- the Trans-Texas Corridor.
What can we do? Help get the eminent domain reform bills out of
committee! We need to hammer the Committee offices (don't be mean,
but be firm) now and next week!!

"Two recent studies that found mercury in HFCS and in foods containing HFCS suggest that the sweetener could be more of a threat to health than previously believed. HFCS is used in almost all soft drinks and a great many processed foods, ranging from salad dressings and ketchup, to jams, jellies, ice cream, and many others - even bread. HFCS contains a high percentage of fructose, much more than regular corn syrup. I've long been concerned that it has disruptive effects on metabolism, because the body doesn't utilize fructose well, and humans have never before consumed it in such quantity.

"In Washington, D.C., a jury ignored a military veteran's obvious violation of the city's draconian gun laws, setting him free with only a slap on the wrist. In LaSalle County, Illinois, a medical marijuana user found with 25 pounds of the plant didn't even get the slap; jurors chatted with him after finding him not guilty. While we can't know for sure, in both cases jury nullification was likely at work as regular people serving an important role in courtrooms exercised their power to quash laws they found repugnant.

"When the topic of organic food comes up, most people think of fruit, vegetables, and perhaps dairy, but almost always fail to consider meat. This is an unfortunate mistake because meat from conventionally raised livestock comes with significant risk.
"Each of the trillions of cells that we’re made of are created from the nutrients we eat. While a healthy diet will support optimal cell function, a poor diet will promote cell malfunction and lead to disease. As the saying goes, we are what we eat!

"I am furious about the continuous and covert robbery of the American worker by the banks. I worked in the debt negotiation industry for a few years and daily heard the heart-rending stories of people who had used credit cards but then fell on hard times. The hard times we were able to use as acceptable negotiating tools to reduce credit card debt was loss of job, divorce, serious illness.
"Folks had to stop paying on the debt to get the credit card companies to agree to settlements. Most were terrified of ruining their credit ratings and were so brainwashed on this point that they did not realize that they had no credit, could not borrow another dime and would spend the next 30 years paying back the card companies 5x what their purchases actually cost to satisfy the penalties imposed."

"The federal government, in their zeal for campaign finance reform, have given Libertarians a great gift. Quite simply, they have created the framework for a decentralized way of campaigning, a system perfectly suited to our way of doing politics.
"From the Libertarian perspective, it was easy to predict that so-called campaign finance reform would not succeed in banning anything. People would simply find new creative ways to raise the money to do whatever they wanted anyway. And indeed this has come to pass. In the last election, we saw this new form of politics in action. It is the 527.

It is time -- arguably, it is past time -- for you to get your family and your wealth safely outside the borders of the United States. America has become a police state that is moving quickly toward total surveillance and, in typical American fashion, the resulting society will almost certainly be the "the best and the biggest" tyranny in the world.

When I ran for president in 2004 on the Personal Choice Party ticket,
people would ask me, "Why are you running? There's already a
libertarian in this race."
Certainly they had a point.
But now, four years later, as the nominee of the Boston Tea Party, I
could give you 100 reasons why I'm in this race. And every day, it
seems like there's a new one.
I believe, as I'm sure you do, that we need a presidential candidate
who champions liberty. After all, how many people became libertarians
thanks to the presidential campaigns of men like David Bergland, Harry
Browne, and Ron Paul?

We hold that all citizens who may lawfully purchase a handgun be allowed to carry openly in public in the State of Texas except for those places prohibited by law. We also call for state preemption of all handgun laws concerning open carry in Texas.
