I was appalled after reading the article, reprinted in several locations all over the internet, of wine drinkers thinking a wine tastes better if it’s more expensive. Does no one read the reviews on this site?
I’ve run across wines that taste much better than their more expensive cousins. I’ve also run across some real dreck, but that’s another story and also what I’m here for. And what does this story say about wine drinkers in general?
That they are snobs? That I’ve got to tell you a wine costs $40 so you’ll feel that it’s worthy of your taste buds?
No, I say!
Drink wine because you like it! Don’t worry that it’s $10 or even $5.
Taste is all! I’d rather tell people about a great $10 wine than a lousy $20 wine with a prestigious label.
And to those Bourgeoisie wine merchants that plan to double the price of Yellowtail (or so help us something worse) in an effort to get you to think that it’s a superior wine, all I can say is:
“A pox on your wine store, sir!”
