The Citizens of Texas are presented with an unique opportunity to challenge the wisdom of the Trans Texas Corridor and express their concern about the growing obsession with toll roads and public private partnerships.
THIS IS NOT ANOTHER TxDOT HEARING
The subject of this hearing is not limited to TTC-35, TTC-69, or proposed TTC corridor routes or specific toll roads.
Come hear TxDOT defend their policies to our elected officials. And, hear others who seriously question those policies. Add your presence and your voice to the debate.
Come fill the auditorium. All eyes at the Capitol will be focused on this hearing as an indication of public acceptance or opposition. This Senate Committee can have a real impact on the flawed public policy surrounding these projects.

Don't Tag Texas
Join us and other organizations in Austin on Friday, March 2, for a rally to protest both the National Animal Identification System and the Trans-Texas Corridor. Our elected officials need to hear from the people! A parade of tractors, animals, and people will drive,
ride, and walk up Congress Avenue to the Capitol. There will be speakers and a musical performance on the steps of the Capitol. See below for more information about the speakers and logistics, or go to http://farmandranchfreedom.org/content/dont-tag-texas.
We need everyone to help make this event a success!!
1) Come to Austin! Join us for the march, or at the steps of the Capitol to hear the speakers and performance. Go into the Capitol and talk to your legislators about why you are against NAIS!
2) Spread the word. Tell your friends and neighbors, download the flyer and put it out in local feed stores and co-cops, take the press release in to your local newspaper or radio station and ask them to do a story on it.
3) Volunteer to help. We need people to help both before and the day of the rally. Please contact us at info@farmandranchfreedom.org or 866-687-6452 if you can help.
4) Donate. We need donations to help cover the costs of parking, buses, printing signs, etc. You can donate online, and earmark the donation for the rally.

Tractors, horses, cattle, etc: All animals need to be under full control at all times - please do not bring any animals that are not used to traffic, crowds, and lots of noise. After the march, tractors and livestock will be escorted back to the staging area where they will stay during the speaker portion of the rally because we cannot have them on the Capitol grounds. City crews will deal with any manure on the streets, but please be prepared to clean up manure at the parking lot.
We need volunteers to watch the animals back at the staging area from 2:30-5:30. Please let us know if you are willing to help.
Staging Area for the March:
We have reserved a parking lot at the northeast corner of Cesar Chavez (1st) and Red River. If you plan to be part of the march up Congress, please be at the staging area around 1 pm and NO LATER THAN 1:30 pm. Click here for a map of the area -- the lot is marked with a star.
Route for the March:
Everyone will march together down Cesar Chavez (1st) Street to Congress, and then up Congress Avenue. When we reach the Capitol, the people on foot will remain there. Tractors and livestock will turn right on 11th Street and go to Red River, and then go down Red River back to the staging area. People will then be bused and shuttled back to the Capitol steps.
Other Parking:
Tractors and trailers will have first rights on the reserved parking. So if you're driving in your car, be prepared to look for nearby parking. Texas Capitol, Capitol Extension and Capitol Visitors Center Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto located between Trinity and San Jacinto Streets at 12th and 13th streets. Metered spaces are available throughout the complex. There are several parking lots around the Capitol that charge daily rates. Lobbying:
While you're in Austin, go talk to your legislator in person. We'll have talking points and information packets to help people effectively lobby their legislators. Don't be discouraged if your legislator is gone, because talking to their staff is very important too!!! Remember, be polite at all times.
Signs:
We will have some signs available at the rally. Feel free to bring your own sign, as long as it has no profanity. All signs should have slogans focused only on the topics of the rally: NAIS and the TTC.

Toll Overcharges
As plentiful as the reasons to be against toll roads are,and as well thought out as we know they are,here's another reason to decry toll roads:Toll overcharges purposely made.
We know how the E-Z Tag system works:We put money in a bank account and give the Toll Road Authority authorized access to that account.The Toll Road Authority gives us a tag that "counts" each time we pass a tag reader and the Toll Road Authority deducts from that account the charge for each usage.
My point?
How do we know if that count is accurate?
The Toll Road Authority says "Trust us".
I say "I don't".
We all know,with the facts in hand,that we have absolutely no reason to trust anyone involved with toll roads.
How does the scam work?
It would take one investigator at each tag reader to count all the tolls to determine if they are accurate.It would take each E-Z Tag user to keep track of their own usage,for how long,to determine if the charges are accurate.
Think of this:In Houston,if 300,000 drivers a day use toll roads and just once a month,a false hit is charged,that's $375,000.00 a month that can be skimmed.
Times 12 months and it's now $4,500,000.00 a year.
These numbers are just examples,but as you can see,simply by taking one FALSE charge a month,from each tag holder(and who,without keeping track,would notice only one false charge a month?),an enormous amount of money can be generated,all of which can be skimmed.
And who will ever be the wiser?
We know we can't station enough people to count the tolls.And we know how difficult it is for each of us to keep track of our usage.Even if one industrious soul did manage to keep track for a couple of months and actually caught an overcharge or two,what would happen?The Toll Road Authority would apologize,refund the "accidental" false charge,and promise to "try" not to let it happen again.All the while,keeping the rest of the money from the other "accidental" thousands of false charges.
This is just one of many ways the toll road authorities intend to take from us.
Some others include the reject slots that used to return your rejected coins,but now,no longer do.(They're covered over here in Houston.)
The money dropped on the ground by drivers at the exact change machines and not recovered by the people who dropped it.These amounts may not seem like much,but if the TRA says it's only $500.00 a day,how do we know it's not $1,000.00 a day,or even $10,000.00 a day?We don't and even small amounts,compounded over time ,add up to enormous potential for skimming.
The Toll Road Authority says "Trust us".
I say "I don't".
Toll Overcharges Proof!
We now have definitive proof that the Harris County Toll Road Authority has actually overcharged for tolls on it's toll road system:They have admitted it!
On Wednesday night's Channel 11 News at 6 and again,Thursday morning on the same channel,it was reported that HCTRA had admitted overcharging some users of the toll road system.HCTRA stated that the overcharges were the result of a fault within the "axle-reading" mechanism used to count a vehicle's axles and thus determine the proper charge.HCTRA said it is a rare happening that occurs only "once in 5,000 readings",but have offered no proof of this estimate and instead,admonished all users of the toll road system to "check your statements",as if an E-Z Tag holder could do so and determine if any overcharges had been placed against their account.
HCTRA insists that just as many "undercharges" have occurred as overcharges,resulting in an "even balance" of charges,yet again,offers no proof of this statement.
Are we to believe that Joe Citizen received an overcharge one day and an undercharge the next day,on the same vehicle,resulting in an "even balance"?
Or is it an even balance just within the system,with some being overcharged and other,different folks,being undercharged?
The more likely truth is that HCTRA HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW IT BALANCES,unless perhaps they are keeping track for "skimming" purposes.
Is this the way of the future ala Trans-Texas Corridor?
I would not be the least bit surprized!
Will the proposed Foreign operator of the TTC,CINTAS,operate the system under Texas and U.S law,or will they be allowed to control this huge piece of OUR Great State under the laws of their nation,Spain?
If CINTAS is allowed to operate under Spanish Law,what kind of oversight and access to records,will there be?
As an aside,Didn't we Americans already kick the butts of these Spaniards in other wars and didn't we already kick the butts of these Mexicans in other wars?Why are we allowing Spaniards to come here and take over our Highways and why are we allowing ILLEGAL Mexicans to come here and take over our Jobs?
The bottom line is this:The Toll Road Authorities and CORRUPT Politicians are still saying "Trust Us".
I still say "I DON'T".
