For a better idea about the basis' for the claims, see David Radius HUDSON's lectures. Like the one from Dallas in 1995, which is about 100 pages long. He is the first person to really re-discover this stuff back in the late '80's, and his patent covers how to make it from metallic gold. But there are others ways to make it, which David Radius also mentioned in his lectures. Also check good ol' Youtube, there's some videos of people making it in various forms, with various methods.
