I recently read a study that said if the IRS, state, and local taxes were abolished in place of a sales tax, the tax rate would be as high as 80% (heck, it's already 10.1% where I live in Phoenix). Assuming that you can cut back on government spending waste (like ill-thought out wars), you would still probably be looking at a tax rate of 50-60%. Is that something you're prepared for?
