MADD Brainwashing and Victimless Crimes
Hi Ben,
It's saddening to see just how effective the brainwashing campaign of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has been. Mr President hit the nail on the head, that the mere act of driving, no matter what state you are in, is not a crime against anyone else. When, and only when, the driver causes actually damage[1] to someone or something else does it become a crime.
If MADD had bothered to try and make the penalties for real driving crimes (destruction of property, manslaughter, etc.) more heinous, then I'd be supporting them 100%, but they went for the emotional, “for the children” type of approach and got passed basically “thought crime” / “potential crime” type of laws. Of course the Statist helped them at every turn as MADD has created an enormous revenue stream for the State.

[1] That would include causing others to swerve to avoid you, as you've then aggressed against another.
