Cockburn’s 10 Year Old Tawny Porto Portugal

It’s a good effort for this port, but it’s lacks a complexity and color as compared to other ports of the same age and price. Try one of those instead.

This port has a clear, bright if somewhat light brick red color with some moderate structure to it. There are some notable dried fruit notes with perhaps an under note of caramel as well as a soft or mellow sweetness that’s typical for a port. The finish is good and the balance ok. What seems to be lacking is a certain amount of complexity that I find in other ports, notably Taylor Fladgate and Warre’s. With those ports there was a greater complexity and a “smokiness” that seems to be lacking here.
