Turning Leaf Reserve 2005 Pinot Grigio California

It’s probably a perfect wine for next summer, say a warm afternoon. Light, airy, not too sweet, and something of a wet finish. If you’ve been drinking wine coolers of late (Arbor Mist comes to mind), this might be worthy replacement.

It’s got a clear, bright, pale to shallow (and it can’t get much paler) straw color with no apparent structure to the wine. There aren’t any real discernible notes to the wine either. Your nose might very faintly detect pear or apple notes, if that. And yet, it’s not really a terrible wine. There are some faint fruit notes for your palette, the balance is OK, the finish rather short and somewhat on the wet side, and the body rather thin. There are no off-notes. But it needs a lot more intensity to take it to the next level.
