Bocce 2005 Red Zinfandel CaliforniaSubmitted by bob.bacchus on Sun, 2007-12-30 14:36.I tried this wine while whiling away the hours at a local Austin watering hole, during their happy hour of course. While price was right, ($3 a glass) I kind of wish I had chosen something else. This wine has a clear, bright ruby-purple color but with no structure to it. There are some berry notes to this wine, think gooseberry or blueberry, but more would have been helpful. The low astringency and tannins give this wine a “wet” taste not always seen in red wines. While there aren’t any off notes, this wine had a decidedly “dishwater” or “washed out” taste that really put me off. It could be that this wine had been opened for too long and I got the last of a bottle, I might have to try this one again. Grade: D Price: $9 Wine Reviewed: Reply |
