Maison Nicolas 2005 Merlot France

Cheap French wines rarely let you down, and this is no exception. It has a nice neutral balance with enough bite to clear the palette during dinner.

This, the boys and a shank of mutton or some gamy deer and you have the ingredients for a carousing night. This, an easy wood nymph, some Gruyère or sharp cheddar and a smoky fire and expect some warm cuddles in your future.

Bacchus speak:
Deep, but almost muddy ruby colour. Sheets and does not display legs. No discernible nose, but nothing unpleasant. No discernible palate, with a slight tannin finish.
