Umm, excuse me, but the Libertarian Party was founded in 1971 by the Colorado State Chairman of the Young Republicans. Every single LP Presidential candidate since 1972, with one single exception, has been an ex or current Republican. All prominent elected Libertrarians in the last 35 years have been elected on the Republican line.

The LP is the farm team for the GOP, just like the New York Conservative Party for the NY GOP.
