Talus 2005 Pinot Noir California

The wine has some positive points, but it’s tannins at the end give this wine a lesser grade. I guess for $7 you really can’t expect too much. Some better wine choices, if more expensive, are Dynamite 2004, Cline 2005, Zinfatuation 2005 (only available at World Market.)

It’s a clear, bright pale to light ruby-garnet color wine. There are some slight berry notes (thinking blackberry here) with some extra tannins at the end that doesn’t really help this wine. This tends throw the balance off and the finish is short. What berry notes your nose can detect follows through to your palette. Allowing this wine to breathe a bit beforehand might improve your luck with this one. And I’m afraid Silenus was less than kind….

Dear Californians, do you have to ruin everything? I won’t be drinking this wine again.

Silenus

Pithy, Silenus. Really pithy.
