Llano Estacado NV Port

It’s not your typical port. This one uses Cab grapes as the base and as it turns out to very good effect it seems.

What’s not here is some of the more subtle components of a port. There is some really nice berry notes, owing to the choice (I think) of cab grapes as the base. There is the usual sweetness of a port. There is also an astringency (but not too much) that you experience at the end of the sip. It’s a very good approximation of a port and for only $15. I’ve gone through several bottles over the last couple of months, I’ve liked it that well.

Ports aren't my thing, but this is good. Not too sweet. Not too dry.
