Regarding Obama

I really like your blog, but I think you are grossly misscharacterizing Obama. To assume that the youth are voting for Obama simply because he is black is a wrong assertion. There are several reasons Obama carries appeal to a younger audience:
1. Students and young voters have an overwhelming tendency to vote democrat regardless of who the candidate is.
2. Obama has charisma, he is someone that is flat-out interesting to listen to.
3. Obama represents change, a "new Washington" if you will which is appealing and a message that younger voters can cling to. McCain on the other hand represents the old order, someone who has been there and back.

Also, look at past black candidates, all of whom have faced uphill battles. Not that you say this, but I think it is much harder for black candidates to go far in the road to Washington.

Jesse Jackson
Alan Keyes
Al Sharpton

These are all former presidential candidates (who happenned to be black) who have had no chance to take the Presidency.

I think this is an interesting discussion to be had. If you would like to contact me, my email is Mercedes2Matt@yahoo.com or you can easily reach me at my blog at jotbyjot.blogspot.com
