Libertarian-Americans lead effort to restore Constitutional Government to the US

Two major areas of political redress have captured the popular imagination:

1. Impeachment of the Bush-Cheney copresidency for high crimes and misdemeanors for, among other offenses, its deceptive justification of the war in Iraq and the government's wholesale assault on human liberty
2. Criminal investigation of the attacks of 9/11, including establishment of any American government purposes these attacks served, such as pretext for war in Iraq and Afghanistan or to further unConstitutional American empire

Reason to Freedom addresses these issues in two columns.  The following is part 2.

The biggest reason offered by Bush-Cheney to the American people for invading Iraq was the alleged connection of the attacks of 9/11 to the regime of Saddam Hussein.  This connection never existed, even though Bush-Cheney and the national security state (NSS) apparatus convinced 70% of the American people the connection was valid.

Do we know who is fundamentally responsible for the crime of 9/11?

No, it was never investigated as a crime by any agency of government.

No evidence was collected—indeed, most evidence was bulldozed or intentionally removed from the crime scene(s) and some of it, such as the structural steel of the World Trade Centers, painstakingly scrapped without examination—nor did the government offer a detailed theory supported by any evidence.

Please refer to the excellent website, Center for an Informed America, for a series of detailed technical analyses of the evidence we do have, particularly on the alleged 757-Pentagon collision and the WTC collapses.

Instead of a crime investigation searching for proof of who organized and caused the murder, injury, and property damage, the federales gave us a report… from the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.  The authors of that report provide a dramatic novelistic description of what everyone just knows happened: 19 militant Islamic fundamentalists (MIFs) boarded four airplanes, hijacked them, and attempted to pilot them into buildings.

Any meaningful theory of how the crime was perpetrated, much less analysis of crime-scene evidence to support a theory, was not the commission's purpose.  The purpose of the 9/11 Commission, similar to that of the Warren Commission in its puff piece on the JFK assassination, was to create the illusion of having solved the crime… and thus to stave off further public inquiry.

Well, that ain't gonna happen:  The Internet exists and some very good people, virtually all desiring to restore Constitutional government, are piecing together reasonable theories about what actually did happen.(1)  A central site with links to several of these reputable groups is The 9/11 Truth Movement.

My own education on the reality of the 9/11 attacks is just beginning, and as a consequence I'm not comfortable with a thoroughgoing set of testable assertions that might compose my own theory.  I do know, with epistemological certainty, the "official story" is false.

According to Dave McGowan, esteemed host of Center for an Informed America:

Although I refer frequently in this article to the 'official story,' there really isn't, technically speaking, an official story of what happened at the Pentagon [or at any of the other sites —tw] that day. What there is instead is an officially encouraged, and notably vague, group consensus—a consensus shaped and reinforced by Washington's political and media institutions, which have carefully avoided fleshing out too many details. This strategy is apparently intended to disarm critics, since it is much harder to point out the lies and absurdities in the official story if that official story has never been formally presented.

Note  -  The official story represented by the 9/11 Commission Report is not precisely what I'm talking about here.  Rather, I mean the story that government officials have allowed to be spun to explain some of the technical anomalies arising from the evidence officials haven't been able to destroy or cover up.  Please refer to the list below.

What I'm going to leave the reader with now is a list of questions that have not been satisfactorily answered by any official story or bipartisan government-authorized commission report.  The first eight of these questions were posed by John Dean in Worse than Watergate(2), while I developed the remaining six.

We have a right to receive answers to these questions from our government:

1. Is it true many governments (Germany, Israel, Morocco, Russia, Jordan, Egypt, and France among them) had advance knowledge and warned the United States that the 9/11 attack was imminent?
2. Is it true Bush personally intervened to block an investigation of the bin Laden family's investments and activities in the US before 9/11?
3. Why were no military fighter jets scrambled until over an hour and a quarter after the FAA became aware of the first hijacking (whereas the FAA had fighters alongside golfer—a stalwart Republican and friend of Bush—Payne Stewart's private jet within 20 minutes of loss of radio contact)?
4. Who purchased (and made all that money on) put options (betting that the stock price would go down) for companies that would be most affected by 9/11 attacks, such as United Airlines, American airlines, and tenants at the World Trade Center Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley?
5. Why were so many of these put options traded through an investment firm with executives who have ties to the CIA?  Why did the president of the firm abruptly resign after 9/11?
6. Is there any basis to the many stories in the British press about the financial rewards from 9/11 accruing to the Carlyle Group (for whom Bush once worked and his father worked until recently)?
7. Who authorized Saudi businessmen and their families to be picked up throughout the United States by a private airplane right after the 9/11 attacks, when all other private and commercial aircraft were grounded in the United States, and then fly off to Europe?  Who was on the airplane?  And why were they so anxious to get out of the United States?
8. Is it true that two senior intelligence and terror experts from Israel's Mossad visited Washington in August 2001 to warn the CIA and FBI that a cell of two hundred terrorists (including four who would be among the 9/11 teams) was planning a major operation?

The additional six questions of my own origin:

9. Where is the evidence of the Boeing 757 aircraft (and its passengers and crew) that was American Flight 77 that left Washington Dulles airport at 0810 and supposedly struck the Pentagon at 0938?
10. What is the nature of the "pod" seen in video footage on the lower fuselage of both aircraft (allegedly 767s American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175) that struck the World Trade Center, and what were the flashes of light that occurred between these aircraft and the building immediately before impact?
11. If United Flight 93 directly crashed intact (flight controls having been taken over by passengers who elected to fly it into the ground) in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, why was debris from that flight scattered as much as eight miles away?
12. Were semiannual war game exercises in effect for September 11, 2001—conducted by various agencies, including the FAA, NORAD, the Canadian Air Force, the National Reconnaissance Office, and possibly the Pentagon?  Did some of these drills consist of live-fly exercises where actual aircraft were simulating the behavior of hijacked airliners?  How many aircraft took part in these exercises, and approximately what area of North American skies were they flying?
13. How is it possible for Buildings 1 and 2 of the World Trade Center to collapse into their own footprints, even if temperatures were hot enough—they weren't—to melt evenly the steel trusses on the aircraft fuel-impinged floors?  And if that pancake effect was the cause of the symmetrical collapse, why didn't the 47 massive cross-braced, structural steel columns of the building core remain standing?  What is the explanation of the controlled implosion of World Trade Center Building 7, which was not struck by an aircraft?
14. Why has all the actual physical evidence of the crimes of 9/11—this was clearly a crime of mass murder—been bulldozed, destroyed, removed, and/or classified?  What is the identity of the public servant(s) who authorized the destruction of 9/11 evidence and/or contravened any legitimate government agency investigation of these crimes?

Point 14 to me is the clear substantiation that some agency of the federal government is guilty of the crime.  You don't destroy evidence if you're innocent.  Dave continues in his understated eloquent fashion, discussing the WTC debris removal:

"Since 'Ground Zero' was, by all accounts, the site of a mass murder, the actions taken collectively by federal officials amounted to nothing less than the willful, deliberate destruction of evidence in a criminal investigation. If the collapse of the towers was due to an unprecedented, spontaneous failure of structural components of the buildings, then a full and rigorous investigation was mandated to ensure that new construction methods could be implemented in future highrise projects, and so that existing buildings at risk could be identified. If, on the other hand, the collapse of the towers was due to strategically placed, synchronized explosive charges, then only the appearance of an investigation was necessary, for two rather obvious reasons: (1) those who need to know already know why the towers collapsed; and (2) they don't want anyone else to know why the towers collapsed."

The conclusion of US federal government culpability for 9/11 is inescapable.

So what do we do now?

That's what this column is trying to present—in conjunction with the previous related column, part 1, dealing with the need for impeachment of Bush-Cheney.

First, in regard to the 9/11 crime resolution effort, please proceed to the The 9/11 Truth Movement site and sign the petition to New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer to open a formal crime investigation of the attacks in New York of September 11, 2001.  Then read extensively and cooperate with other groups to get our federal government to reveal the truth.  Write your Congresspeople.(3)

Second, support the combined impeachment and 9/11 investigation project of the RTF site.  The combined effort is important, because the articles of impeachment and imminent 9/11 prosecution are a unified attempt to remove those responsible for the highest crimes and misdemeanors.  The ultimate objective is to clean house, to restore the Constitution as a living, breathing document of personal liberty, to arrive at a condition of social health.

Thus, a letter to Congress and other public officials to get the ball rolling on impeachment is also a positive first step.

A friend of mine suggested the idea that NSS and Bush-Cheney (who represent the United States government as currently constructed) perpetrated 9/11 and the Iraq aggression is much too horrifying for the American people to accept.  Too big a pill to swallow.  They may revolt and crush any "little boy" who calls the emperor naked.  My friend has a valid point.

For that reason, because the crimes of the NSS and its latest front men are so traumatizing, I believe we should approach Impeachment-9/11 (I-9/11) as the number one public-health issue in United States history.  The NSS has afflicted the American body-politic like a cancer… a cancer that will become terminal without radical surgery and holistic therapy.  The pain all decent Americans must absorb has to be accepted for cure.

Thus, the I-9/11 public health project has nothing to do with a vendetta against the "average farm hand" and his Svengalian accomplice who came into power through unusual treachery—in 2000 and 2004, both.  (In my opinion, both Bush and Cheney are extraordinarily evil men, but that is beside the point.  They—and the national security state apparatchiks behind them—broke the law, killed thousands of people, and ruined the constitutional health of our country.)

The purpose for bringing them all to justice is to salvage our sanity and humanity as American citizens.
