Right or Left?

I don't need help in finding my own personal political POV (point of view) but I desperately need help defining where the political parties are headed. For generations, my family has always believed that a smaller, less intrusive, less costly government is the best kind, sort of like it was defined in the constitution. This, I believed, was the core of the Republican Party's (read right) agenda. On the other hand, we had the Liberal Party/Democrats (read left) that was "the road to Socialism." All these years I have read hundreds of science fiction books proving over and over that we need a few laws to live by, but when Big Daddy begins to give us too many laws we lose our individuality and any desire for self improvement. When we are this vulnerable, the Martians might show up and have their way with us. We must shape up here in America.

So let's take a look at our options at this time. We have a dedicated left wing candidate who makes no bones about his desire for redistributing the wealth, giving away money and entitlements to all "designated" needy and uneducated minorities. This is fine and they don't even make excuses for their pandering to this group. This group, by the way, has tripled in size since the liberals have been running our government. Just keep handing things to them, and everyone will stay quiet. Makes sense to me and their concepts are working in their favor. The left feels a responsibility for all the other countries in the world and believe that the only way we can feed and water everyone is to join up with organizations such as United Nations, and all the alphabet organizations that are in the headlines everyday. Their total dislike for big business is pandering to the labor unions and it's working in their favor. I love to get into a debate with one of these folks and throw in the word "capitalism" and watch their eyes glaze over; their mouths open and out comes the clichés of socialism that they seem to have memorized.

The left have a mantra these last few years of calling the right-wingers mean-spirited bloodsuckers. Okay. It's catchy and it plays well in Kansas. Basically, they are all scared shitless of losing their pensions, entitlements and all the handouts that they haven't earned for 40 years. So, we must be patient with these people. It really isn't their fault that they have put all their faith in Big Daddy (FDR, Truman and all the way up to Clinton). Don't fault them, dear readers; they have their POV too.

Let's take a look at the right side of the aisle. The mantra these days include: values, ethics, morals, all good things too numerous to list and on and on and on. I ask the leaders of the right to show me! No, I don't ask them to show me, I demand that they do! I heard one very sweet woman caller this morning on C-SPAN saying that The Republicans stood for the same family values that she did. I actually turned around from my computer, and yelled at the television "what damn family values are you talking about?" Another caller mentioned the words "ethics and morals." I logged off my computer and started talking to the television and asking, "where are the ethics and morals that the GOP is talking about?" Folks, they don't exist and they never did. We are all being had by sound bites and people who actually believe what they are hearing and reading by the right-wing speakers. If we want to get down to the nitty gritty we should start with our own desires:

  1. How much government do we want? Do any of us really want to down size our power in Washington DC and start thinking for ourselves? Are we ready to take back the education of our children? Do we want Washington DC to register our guns for our own protection? Or take our public lands away from our use to save a slug or worm that might be endangered? Are we going to allow the United Nations to set our government issues under their new charter? (If you haven't kept up with this one, it will knock your socks off) Can you spell "Global Governance?"
  2. Are we ready to give more authority to the Justice Department and have to live with other Waco or ATF actions like we saw in Miami? Are any of you familiar with the FBI program Carnivore or the International program called Echelon? If you don't know about these, go read up on them, you wouldn't believe me anyway; they are that bad. Do we really want to give our Attorney General the complete authority over any disaster that could befall us in America? I don't like the sound of this at all especially the current Attorney General. She will be taking this new responsibility in October of this year. She has to, Clinton issued the order. Does anyone dare ask why? Think about it.....
  3. What are we prepared to do to stop these actions? Before you say "vote for Bush" does anyone know where he stands on these things? Are we willing to continue to police the rest of the world as we started doing in Korea and Vietnam without the congress declaring a war? I can't believe this doesn't fire up the belly's of the American people. Putting any of our young servicemen in harm's way on foreign land without the American government behind them is illegal and if it isn't, it should damn well be. Here's a scary bit of information. Dick Cheney who just accepted the VP role is a draft-dodging warmonger. Oh well, maybe it will work out just fine.
  4. Now for the government itself. I am searching for a promise that waste, fraud and abuse of our tax money might be recognized by a leader somewhere, I don't care which side of the aisle it originates. If the government can't run itself and keep its own accounts in order, they should stay the hell out of my business. Until they can run their own offices with a code of ethics they should stay the hell out of Bill Gate's business. This list could go on indefinitely but I only have one ream of paper left so I will stop on that point.

My question for Governor Bush, Dick Cheney, Jim Nickolsen, and any other GOP leader who speaks for the party is this: Where are the Republican values? What do you intend to do about making some of your sound bites into reality bites?

Are you willing to talk to the many private schools in America that have solved the reading, writing and social behavior problem that plague our schools? I watched the Platform committee interviewing a woman who single handedly brought her junior high school from dead last onto the top 5 in the State. She explained exactly what she did. I immediately wrote to the RNC telling them that this is exactly the method used by the private schools. The committee was dozing off instead of making the notes they would need to correct the problems.

If you don't have any plans to downsize our government, say so! It is the nature of the political beast to make bigger and better laws and departments to enforce them. The Liberals don't make any excuses they just do it! If you can't cut taxes, just say so! Quit throwing out bait to the voters to reel them in. Either cut or get off the pot! Unless you have a plan to clean up campaign finance, bring it on or shut up about it. There isn't anyone there in Washington DC who has the ethics to follow the law anyway so get off the subject!

Are there any plans to research and correct the voter fraud that has been rampantly abused since the early 60s? This cannot be allowed to go on. Dubya, your state committed more voter fraud in 1964 than ever in the history of the country. Are you doing anything about this?

I know that Bush senior and Cheney are great believers in the United Nations. I want to know if we are going to lose any part of our sovereignty on September during the UN meeting? Yoo hoo, do you hear me? I need an answer before I cast my vote. Another question is for Dubya and Cheney. What plans do you have for the defense problem building in the Panama Canal with the Red Chinese now holding control of both ends? Any problem having a huge installation of storage in the Bahamas, run by the same Red Chinese government?

Okay GOP, let's see your values; let's have a good close look at your ethics and morals. Do you believe that losing one of our freedoms in your disgusting war on drugs with the search and seizure laws that no longer require warrants, is worth it? Is your desire for a ban on any woman's choice of family size worth the cost of yet another level of government and the need for building billions of prisons to handle all the breakers of this moral law? My question for the GOP is where will you stop?

I don't think the GOP wants my vote. I don't think they even want me in their party. Oh, the Democratic Party would have no use for me either as I can see through them very clearly. When I sit down and try to cut through the crap from the GOP one must be clever enough to know that they have no values, no ethics and no morals.

I have only once choice left and that is the Libertarian Party. Oh, I can hear all you right wingers telling me I might as well vote for Gore. Well, damnit, you forced me out of the party with your miss-spent values and your double talk. If you want me back, then stand up and find me one value, one code of ethics. You can forget the morals, they don't exist in Washington DC anyway.
