My comment on this weeks front page article:
"In so much as I am a libertarian, I could easily see myself as a Republican, if they would, or could, clean up their corruption, abandon their willingness to legislate others actions, and accept that all people have the same rights.
"For those that have stuck with the Republican party, I truly hope that you make lemonade and make the most of this opportunity."
In other news:
Our newsletter system is experiencing problems, so if you have an issue, please send me an email while we find its replacement. (Okay, so we actually haven't started finding its replacement, but it's on the list of things to do. . .)

An open letter to libertarian Republicans
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/an_open_letter_to_libertarian_republicans.htm
Right now, libertarian Republicans are the only faction in the GOP left standing. Everyone else has been drowned in the deluge or is still cowering on the beach, coughing up water and trying to figure out what the hell hit them. You guys are the only ones left with any credibility, any muscle, any ideas that resonate with the public. If the Republican Party has a future, YOU ARE IT.

Hotel Rwanda (2004)
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/m_00013_Hotel_Rwanda.html
Hotel Rwanda is a gripping, moving story of an ordinary man’s struggle against extraordinary evil. During the disturbances, Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), manager of the four-star Hotel Des Milles Collines in the capital city of Kigali, works to save the lives of his guests. The UN does intervene to evacuate the Europeans, but leaves behind many native Rwandans to the mercies of the Hutu butchers.
Rusesabagina, who is Hutu, manages to save his family and his wife who are Tutsi, by secreting them into the hotel from his residence. He knows the mob leaders and main players in Kigali, and wields his political influence adroitly. There is a poignant scene where he is trying to maintain his professionalism and go about his business, but trembles and breaks down trying to tie his tie. He has seen the carnage that day and looked into the throat of abject terror.

The Military Commissions Act: Mary Stromberg from Alabama asks a question of educators in her state.
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/military_commissions_mary_stromberg_alabama_educators.html
Mary Stromberg is a grandmother in Alabama who is concerned about what her grandchildren will be learning. Her concerns started when Congress passed the Military Commissions Act and moved her to ask educators in Alabama what children would be told when the Act was signed by Bush on October 17th. Mary and all Americans want to know.
Stealing Elections Texas Style: Mrs. Blankenship goes out to vote.
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/stealing_elections_texas_style_blankenship.html
What is a woman to do when the X will not stay firmly in the square when it is placed on the Diebold Machine? What did one woman do in Dallas Texas when confronted with the unpleasant truth that votes could be stolen? Mrs. Blankenship might be in her late 70s, but she is still a Texan and she took action so that her vote for Libertarian candidates would be registered.
Ain't no lesser of two evils
http://www.reasontofreedom.com/aint_no_lesser_of_two_evils.html
Libertarians, especially the anarcho variety, wonder why anyone who truly has values would bother to vote at all. Between the Donkeycrats and the Grand Old Partyarchs there ain't no lesser of two evils. Below are excerpts from one such mass-circulated dreadmail stating the horrors of a Democrat win (each one is reprinted verbatim), followed by what, based on their track record, Republicans would do instead, followed thereafter by the libertarian response to both.
