War is the psychopath's playground. Now all the rules are dispensed with. Now every human is an object of sensory gratification. Now power rules. Now I can take pot shots at the little objects around me pretending to be human. Nothing matters any more but my own self, my own self-gratification. This has always been the case in a state of war. It's either self-gratification or self-sacrifice. The worst and the best. And there is a whole historical power psychology dedicated to this cause, the retention of war as a means of gratification and control. This is the true meaning of "The Empire." It's what Philip K Dick means when he says, "THE EMPIRE NEVER ENDED."

Some people wonder what the last line of my e-mail footer means – Not a lot of them have asked in so many words, but there have been enough to warrant a comment, and an explanation. Without further ado, I give you ... the secret meaning of:

"Neither DemEAUcrat nor RepublicanT ... I'm a Libertar-I-CAN!"

. . . And finally, Libertar-I-CAN, which is pretty obvious, but plays on the "Yes I Can" concept (from many personal growth seminars and at least one Sixties autobiography), while also taking an extra shot at those GOPer pols (once again, the politicians, not the otherwise-normal folks who for some reason still self-identify that way) who can't seem to live up to any of their alleged principles.
