This Merlot has a clear to bright ruby color if a little on the thin (read pale) side. There’s not much viscosity either perhaps indicating a weak structure or body. It has some nice berry notes (cherry, blackberry, raspberry?) with some earthiness underneath. The berry notes follow through on your palette. Some tannins are present at the finish, but it’s not a harsh one and the astringency seems to be in check. The finish itself is short to medium. While the balance seems good, the wine’s structure and lack of depth doesn’t give you much to hang to at the end.
