At best this is a marginal wine from South Africa more from there than other places, except maybe Chile. Another year might help, but I tend to doubt it. Look further afield.
It’s a wine with a clear, bright medium to deep ruby color with some wine structure to it. There are some definite berry notes (cherry and blackberry notes.) But there are some very notable tannins to this wine and some aggressive astringency that doesn’t help the balance or finish to this wine. There aren’t any real off notes, but I can’t give it a higher mark.
Crap!
