Forget witch hunt, Obama approves American Terrorist Hunt

Herr Obama signed a bill (NDAAFY2012) that declares American soil to be part of the worldwide battlefield in the War on Terror and any American citizen merely suspected or accused of some form of "complicity" with terrorists will be treated on that battlefield not as a citizen with rights but as an enemy combatant with no rights whatsoever.

Welcome to the Terrorist Hunt, America's latest version of the ever-popular Witch Hunt.

To many, the term "witch hunt" sounds like a tired old cliché, but that's because they've never actually read the reality of the centuries-long witch hunts in Medieval Europe and Colonial America.

While historically complex, suffice to note that in some European countries teams comprising an Inquisitor, Witch-Finder, Torturer, Executioner and their retinue ranged across the land in search of witches.

They were empowered to torture confessions from people accused of witchcraft and then to execute them. Tens of thousands of innocent people suffered and perished as a result.

Witch hunting has taken many different forms since those times.

In Nazi Germany the Gestapo conducted a Jew Hunt. The NKVD operated a Dissident Hunt in the Soviet Union. Iran's SAVAK waged a merciless Anti-Shah Hunt for decades. Mao Tse-Tung's Counterrevolutionary Hunt sent millions to die in prisons and labor camps.

In America the witch hunt has long taken the form of the Drug War. But that, apparently, is just too restricted for today's bloodthirsty American Inquisitors.

The coming Terrorist Hunt will define 21st Century statist America.

Already, rather than fighting against this monumental evil, some are jockeying for positions of influence and leadership.

Of particular interest to libertarians may be this opening salvo from Infowars writer Paul Joseph Watson:

"The Ventura County Sheriff's Department has teamed up with the Anti-Defamation League to sponsor a quasi-secret meeting in Camarillo, California that characterizes small government activists as violent terrorists."

The article claims the ADL is using their "close relationship" with the LEOs to steer them toward identifying members of the Sovereign Citizen movement as a fringe group that uses "paper terrorism" to pursue "minimalist government."

How long before "fringe group" becomes "libertarian activists" pursuing "limited government" using "online terrorism?"

Already, the article reports, "police have acted on ADL orders to harass local activists and Ron Paul supporters."

As always, throughout history and around the world, those who lust for power over others are the real terrorists.
