We managed to secure the re-print rights for a great recent speech by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul. Ron Paul is exploring a 2008 Presidential Bid, and as one of the most libertarian thinking, realistic, potential Presidential candidates, we invite you to explore his site ( Elect Ron Paul for President in 2008 ) and offer him as much support as you are able.*

In other news, we've received two great comments by G.F. "Hookman" Brown this last week on Toll Road corruption. The first expounds on the method by which the Toll Road Authority can skim money by purposeful overcharges. And then he documents a third party source showing the proof of the overcharging. Corruption in Texas hasn't ever had it this good. See "Challenge Toll Roads and the Trans Texas Corridor" below.

Instead of questioning who has the best interests of our troops at heart, we should be debating which policy is best for our country. Defensive wars to preserve our liberties, fought only with proper congressional declarations, are legitimate. Casualties under such circumstances still are heartbreaking, but they are understandable. Casualties that occur in undeclared, unnecessary wars, however, are bewildering. Why must so many Americans be killed or hurt in Iraq when our security and our liberty were not threatened?

In reality, support for the status quo (and the president's troop surge) in Iraq means expanding the war to include Syria and Iran. The naval build up in the region, and the proxy war we just fought to take over Somalia, demonstrate the administration's intentions to escalate our current war into something larger.

Our Christmas card the year I met Jimmy

Earlier this month the Fresno Bee published yet another article, citing someone who postures as an authority on the life and significance of James Byron Dean; this September 30th will mark the half century anniversary of Dean's death in a automobile accident in Cholame, California. During his life time James Dean was not famous. At the moment he died only one of his three movies to have been released was East of Eden. Rebel Without A Cause was not yet in the theaters.

When he died no one had yet considered the tiny body of work Dean left behind as his legacy. No one expected him to die. James Dean's movies represent the only tangible statement of his skill.
