Think of Two Pyramids

Actually, we need to think for more than two, but let's settle for two big ones at this time. At the very top of the two pyramids envision Gore on the left one and Bush on the right. Mix them up or keep them as stated; the placement isn't essential. Being I'm now a member of the GOP let's start with the one on the right.

Consider Dubya Bush being supported by the rest of the pyramid. We have the right-wing house and senate on the next level down.

A little further down we have the American voters who have their own agenda for supporting Bush. And what are these agendas? Let's start with the biggest mouths; the religious right. They want the Federal government to add legislation that would promote their Christian doctrine. They make up a fair part of this section in the pyramid, but they certainly don't represent the others. An offshoot of these moralists are the ones who want to abolish all abortions! Doesn't matter how old a young girl is or by what terrible act she became pregnant. It doesn't even matter if she were raped by a close family member. Oh, no, this girl must pay for her sins over and over by being trapped into having an unwanted child. This is cruelty beyond description. Another level of support are the homosexuals. It would amaze many of the first group to learn how many gays are Republicans. I don't see why wanting a cleaner and smaller government would automatically exclude the gay community, but many don't see it as I do.

Now we have two-thirds of our pyramid described and all that is left is your basic Republican fiscal conservative who is holding up the entire pyramid. This group started out with Goldwater and ended up with Reagan. This basic group wants a less intrusive government that will stay out of our personal lives and business dealings. We want honesty, integrity and ethics returned to the White House and the Judicial Department. We want a trade agreement with all other countries that is fair and equal. We want the 6 billion trade deficit removed by January 2001. We want our armed service members given back their dignity by letting them decide who will serve and who will not. We want all "Hate Legislation" removed from the books and legislation enforced that would not allow any American to be abused. We want full authority given to the parents of the students with a promise by the school administration that if they can't educate the kids, according to the desires of the parents, they will close their doors and quit. And dammit they quit without pay!! This bottom group is tired of picking up the tab for inefficiency. No drugs to be allowed in the classroom. If a child cannot handle a classroom situation without Ritalin or other drug, they should be taught in another classroom. The B.G. (bottom group) wants the history of America to be taught in every grade level like it was years ago. Every student must be prepared to know why America is great and free and know the responsibility for this sits in his or her laps by voting. The responsibility of getting pro-Americans to be teachers is essential so that there is equal spinning in the classroom.

Now here's the problem. This pyramid, unlike Gore's, is crumbling due to a lack of unity. The Bush Senior pyramid fell apart when the Perot group walked out of the middle section of his pyramid. The fiscal Republicans and Libertarians walked out during Dole's pyramid. Many of us read the GOP platform and ran screaming from the convention. Too much! Too much! Too much government!

Gore's pyramid is growing in its base. They may not have as many people as Dubya's pyramid but they are better unified in their intent. Their entire base and platform is to take the American businessman and tax him into submission. If that doesn't work, bring out the ecological scare and limit every part of his operation. And while, they're at it, remove all the parks and rivers from being used by the American tourist to keep them from dropping a beer can.

To appease the minorities who can't keep up with the money coming out of the businesses (if any are left) the Affirmative Action legislation must be brought back. If this isn't a racial slap in the face, I can't imagine what is! To admit by legal action that many Americans can't be taught to be productive because of their race is totally un-American in its very concept. While Gore's pyramid is growing, what is the Dubya pyramid doing?

Dubya's entire pyramid is doing a civil war dance. Each group has developed a litmus test for Dubya to follow. What do I read on the bulletin boards and discussion groups? Pro-life! NO! gay bashing? NO! Pro-choice? NO! and on and on. They have only one thing in common......Get rid of Gore!!!

Is this enough to work? I don't know... I see no attempt to unify the groups into a single voting block. I have suggested carrying around Bush brochures and voter registration forms and hand them out. Many won't do this kind of "missionary work." I have added action requests on many boards to have our representative's act in accordance with our wishes. Many don't know how to do this. I have even written up samples of letters with the proper format to write to a legislator. No soap. They do react at Dr. Laura's losing a sponsor for some reason or another. This won't help anybody. I keep hearing, "leave it up to the voters" "why do you argue with the liberals?" And the corker of all time "what difference does it make who wins?" I have also been told to shut up, sit down and leave it alone. This is the one action I can't do. I can't think of any election since 1952 that I haven't given my best selling act for my candidate. I even made a Goldwater Girl costume for my 6 year old when Senator John Tower of Texas needed an usher for a press conference that was under 5'5". My god, she was cute and she rode in a parade on the Santa Monica elephant.

The one thing I have failed at is explaining to the Dubya pyramid why we need to get behind him and along side of each other for the next 6 months. After that we can get back to our old ways and our own agendas.
