Will the Real GOP Please Stand Up

When I was first developing my own political viewpoint of where I should cast my lot, I chose the Republican Party. Okay I went along with the head of the household, my grandfather, who had been the proponent of smaller less intrusive government and chose the GOP. Seemed like a good idea to me and I plunged into the history of America and the years of fighting for the freedoms that we all enjoy. When I reached the age (21 then) of voting responsibility I went with Ike. He was the hero of the day and didn't appear to want a larger government to get us through the following years.

To me, the GOP has always represented the Constitution, State's rights, in other words the Bill of Rights, right? We represented the desire to maintain our sovereignty and total independence from other governments.

My opinion of the Democrats was that they wanted much more government involved in every phase of our lives. I could not understand why so many failed federal programs were increased without correction. Why interest rates were allowed to remove any chance of owning a home for most Americans and why they would involve American boys into fighting for actions not involving America's freedoms. Oh, yes, I was an idealist and wanted to strengthen American power not allocate it all over the world.

I have always been very disappointed in the GOP not following this agenda that I had given to them. Was I wrong? or did the party decide sovereignty and the constitution were secondary to their attempt at building a power base that would not be to anyone's benefit?

A surge of patriotism was felt when Reagan came into power. Am I the only one who felt he did not follow the GOP agenda of reducing the government? I believe that I was misled. I learned never to pin down a Republican Senator on the subject of reduction of federal power. Even Trent Lott mentioned this last night on television that this was no longer an issue.

So I have learned to ignore the Democratic agenda and the Republican one as well. I joined up with the Libertarians because they stated clearly that they would take no guff from anyone who would remove the constitution from our judicial and executive power base. At last, a light in the back of the closet was dangling in front of many of us who were unable to understand the basic difference between the two parties.

The Libertarians have never been able to sell their agenda for many reasons to even list here. Let's just admit that the American voter is not ready for self-rule.

Now we have a Republican President, a slight house majority and an even Senate. Not enough to make even the slightest difference in our government. Any chance at increasing the GOP majority is not going to be possible because the house and senate are unbalanced in their numbers. I mean, of course, that too many Liberal Republicans are taking the edge off the balance and will continue to do so.

So I made a compromise and joined the Republican Liberty Caucus where the focus is to bring in more Fiscal conservatives (lp) members into the house and senate and get the balance back. It would seem that most Republicans would welcome these new "right" thinking members in their midst. We have a growing group of GOP congressmen who are now card-carrying members of this new group and I am hearing no applause. Why?

The Conservative writers are now taking the LP apart. If anyone has read Jonah Goldberg lately, will be stunned that he feels the LP is the evil of all time. He has attacked the many wonderful LP writers and is doing so without reason. I am also reading many Conservative discussion forums where this same attitude is being shown.

Are these Republicans afraid of losing their power base? What is it that keeps them from heading back to the constitution and the independence of America that we have all fought so hard to keep? Why has the GOP suddenly divided itself into impossible to understand groups? Why are millions of American driven from the GOP because they may not be religious, or even straight? Is this division really a Republican one or some plan to destroy the whole agenda? It is very effective as now Republican clubs are closing up due to fighting within their groups. Don't ever get between two Republicans who disagree on a single item within the party, as it can get dirty and ugly.

The great-unmentioned dirty little secret involving the many organizations that have oozed into our American politics may have something to do with this. I am referring to the Bildergerg Group, Trilateral Commission, the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) and the elusive International Bankers. When you add all the alphabet groups such as the UN, WTO, OWO, NATO and the hundreds of other who keep growing for the sole purpose of removing American powers in the world, it is hard to determine the "good" guys from the "bad" ones.

My question, that seems to be missing from all political debate is whether these groups are now controlling the Republican Party.

Since I became aware of politics in America, the political division has been clear in our minds, or has it? Has this power base of foreign involvement been behind our party for 50 years? If this is the case, the sooner the American voters discover this the better we will all be.

I have taken some pretty heavy criticism for leaning into the Libertarian ideology and have lost good friends during my research into what I really want in Washington DC. I questioned the platform, policies, federal spending, increase of failed programs, and a dozen or so other issues that were the basis for the Bush campaign. I was insulted like some junkyard dog. I am now reading insults from so-called political pundits who are declaring war on libertarian thinking.

My real concern is where will this lead? What will happen to the Republican Party if the voters suddenly realize they are not what they claim to be? The only hope would be for the party to clean the garbage out of their base core and get on with cleaning up our country.

If I have been unjust in my opinions of the GOP, will someone please explain all the items mentioned above.
