Is a United GOP Possible?

The time has come to get a few things out in the open and remove the rift in the Republican Party (GOP). At times the "rift" resembles the San Andreas fault with many of us just waiting for the "big one." To narrow the field of dissention would bring the discussion down to two (2) points. The first point is in two parts:

A. Basic Concept of Life.

1. When did life begin? The big bang that started the chain of events that evolved into our present day life forms or the biblical theory that God designed us as we are today.

2.When does life begin? At conception or when a fetus can survive outside the womb.

The debates on these two concepts were great fun in high school. Both sides of each argument were examined in depth without animosity, name calling or screaming insults. We found the debates very enlightening and stimulating during our school days. Sadly, this debate among Republicans has become so emotionally charged that the very mention of the discussion is labeled a liberal conspiracy.

It has now become the great divider of the GOP at a time when it could cause such dissention that the party will split apart with a fury that could be impossible to repair. We will never agree on these two points so why not drop it and get down to restoring the party. If we don't, Mr. Bradley will sit in the White House, and the left will regain their majority in both houses.

B. How much government do we want?

I was taught that less government was the main agenda of the GOP for as long as I can remember. Bring the authority back to the states, counties and cities where we have individual input. The federal government should be handling foreign policy, defense, guarding the borders, setting safety standards for interstate highways, roads, cars, aircraft etc. The legislative part to keep an eye on the judicial who keeps an eye on the constitution and both to check on the actions of the president.

How much authority do we want to allocate to WDC? The more authority we give away the more corrupt the system becomes. This has been proven ten-fold! I don't want the government getting involved in my medical care, my insurance regulation, school curriculum, setting employee wages etc. etc. etc. We must take these and thousands of other items that remove our choices that we make every day for our family's future freedom, out of the hands of the government. The government has removed the incentives and dreams that we all were told were "the American way." Our businesses are folding under the pressure of federal control. Our lives are being dissected by the IRS to such an extreme that it is eating away at our freedoms. Can't we agree to get this dark cloud out of our lives and cut all the expensive micro managing down to size?

The terrible reaction to Bill Clinton has started an avalanche of panic demanding a moral reform to be issued in WDC. I am hearing that many things should now be outlawed. Adultery and prostitution started the rant; gambling, smoking, drinking soon followed and, of course, prohibiting abortion. You know, folks, legislating prohibition of these things will not stop or even slow them down. We can, however, prohibit these things in our homes and churches--and we should!

The GOP should be uniting in an agenda that would control the government back to the constitution and never again allow the authority to escape our local control. Let's take back our schools, our local law enforcement and demand that the government(s) (all) stop taxing us into near poverty. We have a lot of work to do and everyday another disaster in the White House just indicates to us all the over-blown authority that we have given to the one man who should have never been elected.

To summarize, let's allow people to come to their own conclusions regarding the basic concepts of life. It doesn't matter if we agree. Lets cut to the real problems of government and rid it of the overtones of Socialism. Every single American citizen should have the freedom to believe what they are taught in their homes and places of worship and never never never attempt to legislate it.

Americans are wonderful people, generous and, on the most part, moral and ethical. Let's stop the name-calling and insults and get the liberals out of authority before it is too late!
