Tin Roof Cellars 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon California

Not as complex as its cousin, the Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon blend and not as tasty either. You might want to try that one first. This wine is better suited for dinner than perhaps drinking on its own.

Osborne 2005 Solaz Spain

An all around nice wine. You can drink it alone (but really, who likes to drink alone?) or you can pair it with food. Try it with roasted pork or some salted, dry roasted pistachios.

Arrow Creek 2006 Pinot Noir France

As Pinot’s go, not a bad one. Higher grades might have been garnered if there was a more intense aroma. Otherwise, drink it up!

Domaine Calvel 2004 Red Wine Corbieres France

It’s a pleasant wine, if not a particularly inspiring one. Good with dinner and in a pinch, sipping on its own if needed.

Zardetto Procecco Brut NV Italy

It’s a likable wine, if a little short on the flavor department. Good by itself, or with a lunch that’s not going to overpower it.

Little Penguin 2005 Merlot Australia

This isn't the best wine in the world, but it could be a lot worse for the price. Good for an evening of debauchery at your local tavern or plying a wood or mountain nymph at home. It's not refined enough for water sprites.

The Little Penguin 2005 Chardonnay Australia

It’s a modest effort by this winery. Not overly aggressive, this wine doesn’t try too hard to please but it’s not terrible either. Another in a series of so-so wines I’ve had of late.

Sebeka 2006 Chardonnay South Africa

Another “theme” wine from South Africa. On this one there’s a picture of a cheetah – in full run – on the label and they even follow through with cute cheetah print spotting on the fake cork. What’s inside? Surprisingly, it’s a pretty good wine. I’ve had worse from South Africa.

Live-a-Little Red South Africa

Good for both refined sprites and unselective nymphs. It occasionally has enough of a bite during its finish that you'll want something sweet around when drinking it. If you're just drinking with the boys, find something cheaper.

Fiora 2006 Rose Wine Spain

Wood nymphs and water sprites, but not mountain denizens, will succumb to the charms of this nectar. It goes down easy, given its lack of complexity, but if you are a jaded old satyr you can use that to your advantage.

Open this for your running mates and expect to be stoned.

LaTerre 2006 Chardonnay California

It’s a review from a somewhat up scale watering hole. Obtained clandestinely, of course! On balance, a pretty balanced wine….

Aaku 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Australia

It’s an OK wine now, but a year from now might be better. And don’t forget to let it BREATH. Twenty minutes really seems to help!

Ste. Chateau Michelle 2005 Chardonnay Washington

It’s a good effort, at least in my humble opinion and a better sipping wine than a dinner wine. Something with more subtle notes would have scored higher.

Cameron Hughes Lot 36 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford District California

A drinking/sipping wine, not a food wine, but missing on at least one cylinder and it’s available only through Costco.

Turning Leaf 2006 Merlot Reserve California

Another from the Gallo stable, this one better than you might expect for the price. But better perhaps with a dinner than drinking by itself.
