Another wine from the rather large stable of Gallo, and in a nutshell, it’s a girlie wine. The wine is cloyingly sweet like several Zins I’ve tasted, but with something that at least tastes like strawberry added. Two curious notes: it’s the only wine I’ve ever seen with a nutrition label, and the list of ingredients says it doesn’t contain any juice. So were exactly did the strawberry taste come from?

OK, you could probably find this as a “house” wine at a restaurant. Hopefully, this was one of the canyons that went up in flames recently in California. At best, the 2nd bottle of wine you open. Silenus thinks this should be the 3rd bottle you open. A real cork though

In a word, the wine is unremarkable, perhaps to a fault. Look elsewhere.

A note: When ordering wine in an establishment, be sure to ask the year as well as the varietal. I didn’t think it was possible to get a 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon – in late 2006, but I did. And the wine review will suffer as a result. How did the Gallo family allow this one slip out early?

Well you’ve seen countless ads, displays, billboards, grocery end caps and every other marketing ploy imagined for this winery. And there’s a pretty good reason for that. If the product’s not great, advertise, advertise, advertise. This wine isn’t dreck, but it’s close.

It’s another wine from a land down under – Chile. This wine is one of several from Concha Y Toro. Some good (like Dancing Bull, a red Zinfandel) and others not so good --- like this one. You can probably guess by now what I thought of it. I wonder if they are using the GM model for marketing these wines. Frontera is the Chevy version and Dancing Bull the Oldsmobile or Buick version. If that’s true I don’t think I’ve tasted the Cadillac version yet.
